I say yes. Or to paraphrase the NZ league captain as he held the World Cup trophy aloft: "YYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" [minus deep, throaty raor].

If you look at not only the achievements, but how they were delivered: the Ever-Swindle's come-from-behind; the absolute king-hit by Valerie Villi in the finals' first put at Bejing; the dominance of Scott Dixon over the course of the entire IRL season; let's not forget the impact of Steve William's continued ability to control what Tiger can do. Don't believe me, read the reports of his determined club selection on the last approach to the 18th in the final round of this year's US Open. Tiger wanted a sand wedge, William's talked him into a lob wedge out of the rough & he hit almost the perfect yardage. But it got him the put that him into the playoff. And, of course, the league.

Not to mention others: Nick Willis, the para-olympians, the Warriors, NZ rugby, the Breakers, the female age group soccer teams, hell, even the Pheonix have performed. There are plenty of others: add your sport here.

Might depend on what sports you follow, but as someone that follows athletics and motorsports, Valerie Villi and Nick Willis at the Oylimpics and Scott Dixon in Indy cars were highlights for me.

I would have to agree that it has been a very good year for NZ sport.  Not only the success at the olympics, but really good to see teams such as the Warriors, Breakers and Phoenix performing well.  These teams have often been disappointing to watch but they have really stepped up.  The highlight of the year has to be the NZ league world cup victory for me!!

And being a Canterbury and Crusader rugby supporter, I can't complain about those results either...
