Does anyone know what sought of deal Harvey Norman are doing on DSLR's at the moment? I've seen the ad on TV and I'm in the market for a Nikon D90.

From today's "The Press" ad , EOS1000D for $1228, Nikon D60 $1297, Canon EOS450D $1546, all three are twin lens kits.

Thanks for the replies.

The closest store for me is an hour's drive. I could ring up in the morning though.

I really want the D90 after reading some reviews online.

No, Gore.

Closest store for me is Invercargill.

Were you going to do me a deal? Probably just want to sell me an extended warranty.Laughing

Yeah I was thinking about a 40d as well. Doesn't have all of the gadgets the D90 has but probably a better camera for higher end users due to the speed and high iso performance. I think they are cheaper than the D90 now as wel?

Yea i love my 40D i think it would be cheaper by now. Check www.pricespy.co.nz. The 90d shoots HD Video really well i had a play around on it be intresting to see how th 5d MK II compares in HD video shooting, im looking at getting one of those when they come into our store.
If you can get a 40d with an 18-55mm lens its going to be heaps cheaper than the 90d but no video. Canon make awesome lenses! but nikon have nice bodys, tough call lol

Did you happen to see the price for the D90 at work today? I didn't get a chance to ring up as I was out all day. I think the sale finishes tomorrow.

On what basis do you believe that Canon lenses are better than Nikon lenses? I have the Nikon 18-55 and 55-200VR lenses and as far as consumer level lenses go the only thing that I can fault them on is CA, but that only occurs at fast apertures and it seems to be pretty common on all lenses in this product category.

I had to get the floor model in Hamilton from Bond and Bond as the D90 were on back order, possibly 2 weeks delay. Noel Leemings had option of COD with 20% deposit. I ordered one but couldnt wait so decided to take the floor model. The price was $1950(ish) for the D90 kit, 18-105 lens, 4GB SD card.

Great camera - waaayy out of my league but I figure I will either grow into it or I would at least impress a few people, until they saw my shots Tongue out

Have found some very good tutorials online which have really got me interested and will probably take some classes.
