Are flick and Electric Kiwi still providing competitive power prices ? Did a quick search but don't see any recent posts.

Thanks for the links. It appears the factors determining best choices for your power needs is still a minefield and has not got any easier since the last time I looked a couple of years ago.

It's not streight forward.  And to take advantage of some discounts takes involved research.. Not to mention juggling your life around discount windows like hour of power or whatever they call it. pita!

Anyone have opinions on standout best providers, please let me know. I'm a low use, 2 person household with woodfire heating and modern electric hwc.

I was with Flick a couple of years ago and they were surprisingly well priced. I have been off the grid for a couple of years but now back in a newly built smallish house, currently with Mercury but want to review my options.

Try PowerSwitch

The Contact Good Nights plan is good if you want free power in the evening, so you don't have to mess with timers much. The EK MoveMaster plan is better if you can time your usage with things like a hot water cylinder timer, timer on dishwasher and clothes drier, etc.

Octopus top the list by a good margin on Powerswitch.

Octopus do look like a good deal. No free hour but good peak / off peak pricing. Things to remember, their morning peak is longer than Electric Kiwi, but their weekend rates are all off peak (from memory).

I think HWC will play a big part in my bill. How do you think the Octopus stacks up in that dept ?

Lets just stick to the original thread. No point in multiple threads as most of your questions have already been answered.
