Hi all

I am having trouble with Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise edition. Basically when I open word, and only word, it freezes on start up (i.e. the application won’t open and I have to force it to close). From the little research I have done so far it seems to be a corrupt normal.dotm, which I have tried to replace and it fixes the problem for one time only. The application will open, but if I close it and then open again I am back to square one.

I have tried to run the repair wizard in add remove programs, but the only way I can get word to open is to use the run command ‘winword /a’.

Any one come across this before, or have any ideas on how to solve it?

I'm having the exact same problem!

I too can get word to open with the /a.

I also cant launch Power Point.

More specifically, I get the error "The Visual Basic environment could not be initalized." and then "The language DLL 'VBE6INTL.DLL' could not be found."

Then word crashes... I've tried everything I could see on the first 5 pages of google.. to no avail. Any help appreciated!

Office Enterprise?  Are you sure, I don't think that's a retail product.  If you got it off a dodgy source then that's the first suspect and you'll want to do some solid virus checking after you've ditched it.

Anyway assuming it is genuine then first try the Microsoft Office Diagnostics in Microsoft Office \ Office Tools.

If that doesn't fix it it sounds to me like a corrupt install, uninstall Office completely and try again.

It is a genuine product, I got it though Microsoft's HUP via work.

Running Diagnostics now, thanks will let you know.

Interesting.

PowerPoint works ok for me (but I don't really use it). I don't get the DLL error you describe however, and like you I have trawled through Google to no avail.

draco thanks for trying but that didn't help :(. I would rather not uninstall and reinstall, but if worst comes to worst I will have to.

Jamman2110 have you tried calling Microsoft about this? Otherwise this will be my next step.

I've been running Office Enterprise way before RTM and even with the latest packages from MSDN I had no problems.

Have you applied all updates? Are you running Office 2007 SP1? Even before using Office 2007 for the first time I apply all updates, reboot, then let it validate, etc...

I assure you all its a full legitimate copy! Everyones so quick to jump to things being pirated these days. Us honest people do actually exist out here, I assure you!

I ran diagnostics the other day and it came up with nothing, I'm running it again now..

Nothing, all updates have been installed, no new ones... have restarted... :/

Cant think of anything..

I have the Enterprise edition as well. I've had it for some time but only decided to install it last night now that i have a new HP laptop.

No problems at all, updates ran fine also.

Lets compare nzbnw, I run Vista and havent installed any new apps in a while, bar the live addin for office. You?
Outlook works fine! Along with OneNote and Excel. Word, Powerpoint and Publisher are a no go

... (Going through the thought process here)

Microsoft Office Live Add-in 1.3 .. Uninstalling.. :o! WORD WORKS!
No joy with PowerPoint or Publisher though..

nzbnw: Does unsinstalling the live add-in fix word for you?

I also run Vista (Business). I have my computer set to just download any updates it feel fit, but I can't find any 'live add-in'?. Office is at SP1 if that makes any difference?

I think when I find the time, inbetween working and all calling Microsoft may be my only option.
