Has anyone noticed that a few BNZ ATM’s have been transitioned over to Allpoint ATMs?
In many cases, it appears to be the same physical machine just different branding and UI on the machines.

They don’t appear to charge any fees but quite curious whether this is going to be a wider trend.

There's this from last year. Related?

In the latest progression in the partnership, NCR will own and operate the bank’s off-site, cash dispense ATM fleet and run BNZ’s on-premise fleet of NCR SelfServ™ ATMs. BNZ will leverage NCR’s digital-first technology platform to elevate self-service banking, providing 24/7 access to transactional services for its customers.

Allpoint are NCR so I think this is part of the handover of BNZ gear to NCR

Did they have early access to ChatGPT to write that?

I wonder if this is only for standalone BNZ ATM's. The one at New World Birkenhead has certainly been converted to an Allpoint thing, but I wonder about ATM's attached to branches (Albany and Milford, for example)?

I think it’s related to the NCR news discussed above. In the past, I’ve seen non-bank ATM’s but always refrained from using them (I heard some charge additional fees).

I googled Allpoint before using them. They don’t appear to charge any fees. However would be good if they could do some better comms to consumers.

I suspect it may have something to do with BS11 (Outsourcing Policy) - https://www.rbnz.govt.nz/regulation-and-supervision/oversight-of-banks/standards-and-requirements-for-banks/banks-outsourcing-policy.

Their ATM network may have been run out of Australia and the cost to bring it fully to NZ along with the associated systems, support etc may have been cost prohibitive so they’ve just outsourced this directly to NCR. From what I recall BNZ had a whole bunch of systems including their banking system being run out of Australia by their sponsor bank.

This is an assumption based on what I heard about when I was in the banking industry and take it as a grain of salt but it does make sense as I know the banks I worked at all were considering outsourcing / selling things off over supporting them in-house in NZ. An ATM network is rather expensive to run.

The BNZ ATM network may have been interconnected with that of their parent bank, NAB, and all the Australian banks are in the process of divesting themselves of their ATM networks since they're no longer a source of revenue (in Australia, bank ATM networks do not charge other-bank ATM fees). NAB likely would not want to operate whatever operational systems are required to support an ATM network solely for BNZ.

THIS....for pretty much everyone (everyone doesn't trust non bank branded ATMs and immediately think they additional charge fees).

- BNZ could have made an effort to advise customers (i.e. app alerts and more than just one because nobody really knows "Allpoint").

- everytime Im in a location and customers ask for cash, the retailer points them to those wee yellow or orange ATMS they have and the customer is nearly almost 100% looking at it in horror and wanting to go else where.   (meaning they do charge fees or they simply dont trust them).
