Does anyone know how to reduce shipping from USA?

I want to ship a motorcycle part to NZ. The part cost about $300z. The shipping over twice that.

I've come across a number of companies that do such a service but then I'm stymied by a dimension restriction.

I can't use Amazon - looked at that.

Does anyone know of a company they may have tried & tested and enjoyed a lower shipping cost please?

Don't use YouShop, my package from 2021 is still "ready for dispatch" from their warehouse.

I used myUS many (~10) years ago and it was adequate, they repacked things for you so it was smaller and hence cheaper. Not sure if they are still good but worth a look.

I just used MyUS.

The lost one of the small parts in the total shipment, but they provided a credit to make up for it.

Was rather expensive, but that was mainly all the extra fees for dangerous goods.

They have a calculator on their site.

CPU: AMD 5900x | RAM: GSKILL Trident Z Neo RGB F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC-32-GB | MB:  Asus X570-E | GFX: EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080Ti| Monitor: LG 27GL850-B 2560x1440

+1 for MyUS they don't charge on volumetric either. Try the calculator on their website. I use them 3-4 times per year.
Usually stuff from Walmart or car accessories (door rain visors, hood deflector)

Try Planet Express. Good, reliable service, I've used a couple of times, miles better than youshop and a good range of shipping options, but not always cheaper. you'll have to use their calculator to find out prices.

And pay 5x the cost with 1/5th of the availability 🤷‍♂️

There are absolutely legitimite reasons why people go to the effort of buying from overseas.
I've held off for as long as reasonably possible, but ultimately buying overseas was the only realistic option for various car parts I've required.

@Mehrts 5 x the cost is absolutely rubbish for genuine motorcycle parts. I worked in a authorised Suzuki, Triumph, Aprilia dealer in Takapuna, Auckland

It may be "absolutely rubbish" in your experience with motorbike parts, but in my experience with some car parts that 5x price isn't an exaggeration when it comes to local dealer prices. Even local aftermarket isn't the best either sometimes.

Prices have gone nuts recently. Take for example an aftermarket replacement ignition coil pack from Repco which cost me $82 back in 2018. Now the exact same item costs $268 now.

The equivalent item is available for $60NZD including freight from the US..

Same price for clutch, clutch plate, dual-mass flywheel, and clutch concentric slave cylinder as it was for the garage to get just the slave cylinder.

Certainly for my ford, you can pay 5 times or more the cost that you can source from overseas.

Worse, sometimes ford only sell the entire assembly, but, you can buy the part from aliexpress and just fix it yourself.

My son had his motorbike stolen a while back -- damaged when he got it back - and he found it much cheaper to buy the parts himself than from the bike dealer.

Yep, bang on. Ford is my struggle too. The few times I've bothered with the local dealer for part enquiries, they seem like they just don't even care to assist unless I have a model of vehicle that is currently being sold 🤷‍♂️

Luckily my Mondeo is a very common car in other parts of the world, and hence parts are cheap and easy to source from overseas. Not that I need them often because it's great for reliability.

For my old outboards (OMC) I could land parts ex e-Bay from reputable sellers for less than one third of the NZ distributor's list price.

Even with the new engines, if anything breaks, I'll import my own parts and supply to the dealer to install.  If they're genuine parts, there are no warranty implications.

Have you considered these may be older classic parts that are hard to source locally? Sometimes the only way is to buy from the US.

Nope cause nothing like that is mentioned but easy to still get genuine parts for bikes made in the 70s

I use to see parts come in that were clearly fake and had failed and people would want it replaced under warranty
