Off topic and Have a laugh,

An In-Trade buyer bought these cameras and has now relisted them a week later for double the price.

Even using the first sellers photos.

Makes me annoyed to see this, as there's bound to be someone that would buy it for $200. I'd be just as annoyed if I was the seller.

Sometimes even happens on here where somebody would buy a product from Offers & Wanted then list it on Trademe to make a quick buck. I've had it happen to me, and seen it happen to others.

Really annoying especially in one of my cases wanting to sell to help somebody out (and sure I did - by them making a profit).

Nothing you can really do though as it is just the type of people they are and they do own the products.

I commented on a car auction with similar situation....

Car was for sale last year, seller took $28k for it.  New owner has done some work with it and listed it for $99k. Old owner moaning that he was ripped off and why should it sell for so much etc etc.... :D

I haven't paid much attention to the GeekZone offers/wanted (unless I'm purposely searching for something), I probably should have guessed this would happen.

Thanks for the heads up on it.

Just quote the original owners listing in the Q&A

There's a guy on TM that just re-sells seconds whiteware from the Noel Leeming outlet.

Even the text of the auction was just copied over. As least make some effort for your profit...

Years ago I was looking for a Hi8 video camera to convert old tapes. This prick (professional trader) would aggressively bid to win any working camera that was listed, then re-list for minimum double. Of course trademe doesn’t care as it’s just more commission.

A type 1 EV charging adapter that apparently does 3 phase. Yeah nah.

I admire the sentiment but, all this is not much different to the old secondhand dealers visiting garage sales. There's no so many these days.

I often see people trying to sell items on here that are cheaper brand new from say Amazon AU. Hard to hold my tongue.

Umm, I wonder why I recognise that kitchen bench in the photos?!

Yep, those are the very cameras I sold last weekend; I had listed them the previous weekend with a reserve of $100 and hadn’t got a single bite, though a good number of watchers. The joke’s on whoever ends up with them as their nighttime vision is poor thanks to the problems with fogging from the IRs (which I specifically mentioned in the listing).

I’ve had this kind of thing happen before with stuff on TM - primarily audio equipment. I’ll always set the reserve at what I think is a reasonable price, based on my experience of the product and what I think it’s actually worth. If I get more than that I’m happy, but I’m never out to rip people off. I certainly wouldn’t pay $200 for these! There are always some out there that feel they can make a buck or two.
