Today I made an affirmation statement and became a New Zealand citizen.

This is the affirmation I had to give:

“I [say your name] affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles the Third, King of New Zealand, his heirs and successors according to law, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of New Zealand and fulfil my duties as a New Zealand citizen.”

Getting citizenship was easy as. Just did the application online and paid the fee.

Was thinking I needed to use a lawyer again, but decided against it in the end. I found the application for citizenship very straightforward.

Having a lawyer help me was a huge help when applying for my Permanent Resident Visa though.
