I did this cert last year :) I used the book carefully titled: CompTIA A+ Complete Study Guide. It covers all four of the exams and comes with the book in PDF format on the CD (I found that very handy)

Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/CompTIA-Complete-Study-Quentin-Docter/dp/0470048301

I was given this book by the Computer Power Institute, where I did the exam also, they haven't updated them since then (as far as I know) so I would assume that there isnt a newer version.. yet..

Are you thinking about going for IT Technician, Remote Support Technician or Depot Technician?

A bit of all of the above I think lol, I'm doing a level 1 helpdesk crossed with a general call centre role at the moment but would be good to get off the phones a bit
