Hey all, took the advice here and got the new bed frame. It's great. Went with the Ecosa Rise Frame.

That aside, in general terms what's the easiest way to get rid of an old wooden only ash-timber frame with a messed up center-beam/support?

Unless the timber has value I would break it up and put it out with any other junk and request an inorganic waste collection from council.

Put it on TradeMe with a $1 reserve or FB Marketplace for cheap. Someone will probably grab it

This is what I was going to suggest, definitely the easiest option.

Do you know anyone who does carpentry?  Ash is a nice timber.

Same in our street although neighbour was annoyed that one time someone took the free sign and left the rest.

People are discerning. Moral is don’t leave crap out at the curb - they won’t necessarily take it just because it’s free. 😀

Cut into 1 inch cubes and add a few into each meal you eat.   I’d imagine it will all be gone within a month.
