are there any apps that will allow you to message whatsapp, if your device does not support whatsapp (yet)?

There is a web and windows app verison you could look into https://web.whatsapp.com/
However I don't know of any apps that would talk with whatapps, like from outside the ecosystem.

Sorry for got to say its on an Ipad 10 (they have no mobile access etc just wifi).
I was hoping there might be some app that can interact with other messaging apps like watsapp?

yeh that the current work around for them, but keeps logging out. Is there any way to have it perma logged in even when the tab is closed?

Never used the whatsapps web version, also never used an Ipad.
So I am not sure if this would work.
But my janky work around for a wifi only android device would be to download a different web broswer (any of them that isn't their main) and use that as the web log in for whatsapp and nothing else.
Instead of closing the broswer or tab just minimize it when whatsapp web verison is not in active use.
This would allow them to keep using their main web browser however they are currently using it.
Would still need to log in on restart but most people do not turn off their devices these days.

Good idea. Yeh the ipad battery lasts SO long without even optimising it and removing spamware.
another idea I had was if Telegram messenger can interact with watsapp msgr, but Im guessing there will be nothing in the TG msgr packet to ask the end users device to accept it via watsapp msgr.
OP should have posted in the iOS forum, not OT.
Using Google, I found an article that covers this issue fairly well. https://www.macworld.com/article/668638/how-to-get-whatsapp-on-ipad.html

Ipad OS. Yes perhaps in apple, but more of an issue with whatsapp msgr, so wasnt sure the best sub forum, but happy to move it if it is better in there.
yes I too have been scouring the net but distracted today by people hehe, thank you very much, I will give that a read.
I was also wondering how "safe" the Ipad Beta version is? (this is an elderly user, not security conscious etc and also visually impaired).

Yeah nah, Telegram has its own ecosystem/encryption system.
Whatsapp is owned by Meta and FaceBook and Instagram don't even talk to each other.
I had a look at the link RunningMan had and it sounds like you are already using the work around with the Ipad using WhatsApp Web.
Shrugs about the WhatsApp beta testing programm, but I wouldn't be going down that path for an elder with limited tech skills.

It's probably safe enough, but I wouldn't use pre-release software for a non-technical user. Best to wait for the finished product.

Cheers, ty.
Im just looking into the Beta version, but it says 90 days, however its been longer than 90 days since its inception :-). Perhaps the link I read is old and they have extended it now.
There is the multi device Beta, as its an issue for many more devices than just iPad, ie android tabs.
It does make me more frustrated with why the world needed thousands of Skype like clones when Skype is so well supported and was/is a very professionally built looking app in comparison. I understand the model of copying other apps with better ones, but the amount of messaging apps used now is getting a bit much hehe ;-p
Edit: Ugggh, whatsapp web does not include notifications, which was one of the main reasons for wanting it, that and the larger device being easier for them to use. Im not much of an apple person, it was their younger cousin who started this whatsapp craze in the circle of people and their idea for an iPad, they should have informed them of this limitation.
sdavisnz: I've been through this .
We all settled on Facebook Messenger/Messenger kids as the app is everywhere.
Yes same. I dont use FB anymore but all my friends can still msg me with FB mssgr. It was the only app my elderly parent would use when they were degrading in health.
One thing I do like on the apple devices is the SOS via satellite feature. Not sure Id replace my hunting garmin PLB with it however. I do wonder if one day satellite data to inidividual devices like phones (without strlnk etc) will drop in price. I do digress :-0
TY everybody.
There's the rumor that Whatsapp will soon (be forced to) interoperate with other platforms.
