Friend of mine ordered something via Menulog recently and after the time got pushed out again and again for over 40 minutes drove there to pick it up. The restaurant owners asked them to please never use Menulog again, and offered a money-off voucher if they used Doordash in the future. We've had the same experience, deliveries just keep getting pushed back further and further and eventually arrive half-cold.

What I've heard is that Menulog is desperately short of drivers in some areas, which is why orders are getting pushed out and food arrives late and half-cold. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Thinking of switching to Doordash based on that and our own experiences recently.

Absolute trash. My partner had MenuLog at her restaurant. Items never got picked up and when they did, barely got delivered, you couldn't get a hold of anyone to deal with it. We asked and asked for months to remove us and then we ended up having to threaten legal action to finally be delisted from their platform because it was bringing down her brand.

They told us we needed to return their device, but then provided no guidance on how to do it, nobody at MenuLog would tell us how to send it back, the account manager in Australia would literally open, read emails and ignore them. Couriered the tablet to their registered office on the companies register and it was returned to sender. Just ended up putting it in eWaste.

I hope to never have another encounter with MenuLog again.

That sounds exactly like the story I heard. Very different from during Covid when there was some glitch, I pinged Menulog, they told me to stand by while they called the restaurant to check, and a few minutes later it was sorted.

Looks like I'll be swapping to Doordash.

Been this way since they launched. Don’t use it.

I thought menulog died before it started…

even way back in 2015 pre Uber eats it was struggling to break through and Uber came along and it was gone.

admittedly, my contacts tell me the margins for the sellers are better than Uber but Uber got Everyman and their Prius signed up….

it might be big in the US (cue Katy Perry advert), but that’s about it.

enjoy door dash and Uber…. Both however seems to be charging fees and extras recently…. I think they are trying to offset the margin they offer to the sellers and also recoup some $$$ to better pay the drivers (as not everyone tips).

I've used Menulog twice now. The first time it took an hour for the order to be delivered and it was delivered to the wrong house. The second time (only because I was given a voucher after the first time) it took an hour to reach me and was luke-warm by then. Never again.

Aaaand... I have an old Doordash account for my email address associated with a US address and phone number that's long since expired. To log in, you need to use an SMS auth code sent to that number. You can also request help, but for that you need to be logged in first.

Arrgh!

They failed because they failed to become the market leader. If they provided a service that wasn't crap, they'd have a shot at doing that. Like many failed businesses (and some that are yet to fail) they failed to realise that the customer is where the rubber meets the road. You can have as many Katy Perry ad as you want, but if it takes you an hour to get food into a customers hands, you're doomed to fail.

I don't like how many times I used the word fail in this post. I feel like I've failed.

Pick up always worked well for me.

Shame to lose competition.

Had a poor experience the one time I tried them so never again. Completely wrong order was delivered (at about only half the value of what we ordered). Delivery driver said “call the restaurant.” Restaurant said “take it up with Menu Log.” Ended up just eating what we received which was fine (it was all vegetarian so if the other person got our order, if it was even made, they potentially couldn’t have eaten it). Took weeks of arguing to get a refund. And further arguing when they said refund had been processed and it didn’t arrive (some excuse about it getting stuck somewhere in their system). Wasn’t a huge amount of money of course but on the other hand if I only paid half I’m sure they’d be wanting the rest so didn’t want to let it go.

One of the times they got it wrong, delivery to the wrong address, they immediately issued a refund.  Another time the order was late and they called the restaurant while I waited and sorted it out.  This was a few years ago at which point they were actually pretty good, it's just the last year or two that they've gone downhill drastically.

I now only order from restaurants that handle it all themselves. These go-between services always cost more and suck.
