Hey guys,

I have a website selling some products we make. I've pretty much built the website myself and have it just the way we want it for what we want it to do.

Currently, when users click on a product preview image, i have the image opening in a new browser window to show the full original size. I've noticed on quite a few websites, such as trademe, noel leeming and DSE, that they have the images opening over the page content which darkens the content behind it and offers a close button on the top right corner.

I'm just wanting to know how to implent this? If anyone has any info, that would be great.

Cheers,

It's typically javascript + css .. there are numerous ways to do it, and lots of pre-built javascript libraries and helpers out there. Especially easy if you're already using a JS framework like jQuery etc as there are plugins. Do some googling for 'javascript lightbox'.
