Hi has anyone had any experience with a terms of use type document with their company mobile phone or mobile data device? I'm trying to write one for our company and looking for inspiration.
thanks.

I have no legal experience but I find most companies have a guideline to define the use and what you expect.

Company mobiles are provided primarily for the porpose of conducting business and are to be used for that task only, etc etc "insert legal mumbojumbojumbo here"

Some allow personal use:

Reasonable personal use of the mobile is allowed ouside company hours within a limit, Tell your staff the type of usage they have available (attach off-peak minutes/sms for them to use etc) and most will happily abide by this.

I have found if companies expressly prohibit all personal use, staff will just sneak it in as part of "work" anyway and may get uptight.

Thanks for that. We do allow personal use but just wanted to have something in writing so people couldn't say - 'you never told me I had to pay for private calls etc' etc.

If you google "personal use" "mobile phone" agreement you'll find some existing documents.

Become a member of the EMA and you get templates for every scenario you could think of.

We had to draw up one for use of our company vehicles for our staff, and the EMA had a template for us to work off, they even had some ideas we hadn't thought of.
