I see that Panda Mart has had to recall quite a few of their "quality products" due to various issues.

I haven't been to the new shop in Christchurch, but my wife and daughter went for a look a few weeks ago. They were totally unimpressed with the product range. My daughter called it "cheap plastic c**p".

It's frustrating as a parent that so many people will walk into a shop that sells cheap plastic crap and thoughtlessly grab something as a gift for young children.

Where will we find information about the recall?

Panda mart is great imo, cheap as aliexpress but don't need to wait for shipping

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I'm just wondering what you could possibly need to buy from there. Genuinely curious.

14 products including a sunscreen that does not work and may be actively harmful

All children's bikes have been recalled

That sounds like fun if they have all the random electronic gadgets. I had not heard of it. Auckland branch is in Pakuranga Plaza apparently.

Going by the number of product recalls Panda Mart is going to learn a lot about NZ product safety in the next few months..

NZ has a requirement for backpedal (coaster) brakes on kids bikes. I was not aware of that. What is the reason?

When kids are learning initially it is instinctive to take the feet off the pedals for balance at the first sign of danger. That leaves only the front brake and disaster.

On the plus side backpedal brakes require zero maintenance or adjustment and are always working in any circumstance.

Because young children's grip strength is often not sufficient to operate hand brakes.

I fear this was brought about by a combination of greed, arrogance and comically incompetent customs.

I read about customs holding up shipments of nearly everything that could be scrutinized, either for financial, legal or safety reasons.

But here they allowed multiple containers of dangerous children's toys in with nary a second glance?

One rule for me, another for thee it seems.
