Hey,

I want to add some good NZ tracks to my music video playlist, so what are some good NZ music DVDs?

I have Natures Best which is ok but the quality of most the videos is poor.

Do my two favorite NZ bands Shihad and The Feelers still not have [best of] DVDs out? I did a Google but didn't find anything.

Google doesn't necessarily tell you everything :). Funnily enough, I'm the Shihad.com forum admin, and the lads are good mates of mine.

There was a DVD in the works, but it got canned. Could be a DVD being produced in November, as they are doing some gigs to celebrate their 21st, and the gigs are going to be like no other gigs (head on over to the forum to find out more). If you go to ShihadWiki.com, you'll find a couple of DVDs on there that have been done up by fans. There is also a compilation of their music videos that was done by some fans, but I no longer have copies of this - contacting one of the folks on the Wiki wil probably get you a copy.

There are also copies of their Live at Aotea Square DVD still available in stores.

If you are after anything specific, PM me.

I also loved the natures best DVD and CD's but some of the videos were interlaced, some were not etc. Still has been very welcome at many parties.

Any chances to buy the "preproduction" shihad one? even just as a bunch of media files, good quality legal content is hard to come by.

No unfortunately - even I've tried getting my hands on it (as I think I appear in it once or twice), but can't get it. I understand it was basically all done, and ready to head off for printing, but the record company (not the band) canned it. Its the reason the band don't mind us making our own dvds.

There's a couple of Flying Nun (record label) DVD's floating about with heaps of tracks on them.  A bit less mainstream but chock-full of good kiwi indie stuff.

Cheers for that information Tahii. I'll check out that site now.

A copy of the Live at Aotea DVD would be nice, I've watched some of the clips on youtube, do you know what chain stores carry it? I'll have a look at JB and CD/DVD Store at lunchtime tomorrow if I get a chance (I'm in Wellington central ATM).

Last time I spotted it, it was in The CD and DVD Store in the Meridian Mall, Dunedin. They seemed to have a couple of copies. Pop into your local store, and they should be able to source it for you anyway.

Got the Live at Aotea Square DVD today. Some good tracks on it. It's in some wacky aspect ratio though, not 16:9 or 4:3, on my widescreen it's it has black borders on the top, bottom and sides.
