My pre-covid BES840 is struggling to produce enough pressure, and good coffee is hit or miss. It sounds a bit rattly, too. Has made 5-10 coffees every day. I got it for $450.

Is it a good idea to attempt reconditioning, perhaps replacing the pump? Is the there anywhere that does this?

I look at replacements and the prices make my eyes water.

Regards, John Little

My Breville Barista Pro lasted nearly 10 years with good maintenance, but it's final acts were as described in the OP.

Pump started losing pressure, took forever to make a coffee and in the end, I had to replace it.
I looked into having it reconditioned and it wasn't economically or (according to some) physically possible.

I ended up with a De Longhi and have never been as happy with it.

Unfortunately, despite these machines being relatively expensive, they are domestic appliances and only have a fairly short shelf life.

Mostly... and well during the last three years, cleaning and descaling when the lights come on.

MIne gave out about a year ago due to a blockage and it cost quite a bit to get repaired.

I'd recommend doing a deep clean using this

My model doesn't have the auto-clean via the tank option, but there are a couple of good video guides on what to do.
