I have to ring a landline, Health New Zealand (Auckland) number to confirm receipt of a letter.

A message is repeated twice, which may or may not tell me calling id is not supported by this phone system.

I have never had this issue before. I don't have any other phone to use.

I am with One NZ, using a Samsung Android 14 Mobile Phone.

So far, the only thing I have changed is 'Supplementary services' > 'Show your caller ID' from ''Network Default' to 'Always', and I still get the message. Then tried 'Never', and I still get the message.

Network default is already ' Show your Caller ID ' so changing to ' Always ' will make no difference

I take it when you call other numbers your Caller ID is getting shown? Then the issue is not your handset / OneNZ

Maybe not related, but are you calling the number provided on the letter?

Recently I called back a number that I'd missed a call from (not the number on the letter I got), and it was telling me my caller ID was invalid or something like that.

Because I had rung the number that only works for calls dialed out of the DHB. There's a separate number to call them (in the letter).

I just tried calling that number out of curiosity and there is a recorded message “I’m sorry, calling line ID is not supported by this phone system’

so it looks like OP’s phone is not the issue

is there an alternative way to contact them?

I will try the documented telephone number again tomorrow and so on.

I did find another number which the voice message confirmed was the correct hospital and the correct department.

I rang twice and the results were the same.

I had to leave a voice message. I expected the usual, leave a message after the beep and then hang up etc.

First time, there was no beep and eventually I was disconnected.

Second time, I waited, then quickly spoke a message. However, I have no idea whether the message was recorded on their system.

Spoke to someone on the secondary number and reported the problems on both the landline numbers.

Was able to conform the appointment.
