Mediocre actor and less than mediocre person.
I don't know why, but in my head he was still like... 60 something or 70 something perhaps. I imagine Chuck Norris Memes will live forever.
Walker - Texas Ranger and him and Brinkley doing the total trainer ads were probably what I knew him for the most.
I undertand he was genuinely, quite a bad ass martial artist back in the day.

@nunasdream Someone has passed away a famous actor and this is all you have to say!!
Did you personally know him as a person?
I wasn't a fan and he may well have had limited range as an actor but a lot of people enjoyed watching him. What is wrong with that?

This headline has been a highlight in my day so far:
Chuck Norris didn't die, death finally found courage to meet him.
“Don't believe anything you read on the net. Except this. Well, including this, I suppose.” Douglas Adams
I did not see much of his work, but his legend and the many, many memes clearly brought some positivity and humor to the world. RIP Chuck.
If you look behind the memes and acting career you’ll find he wasn’t a very good person to certain demographics.
”If Chuck Norris knew who Chuck Norris was, Chuck Norris would beat the *** outta Chuck Norris”.
RIP and all that but no surprise that his actions gets brought up.

I don't understand why someone dying automatically clears their shitty values and makes them saints.
It's like a podcaster being shot, and a whole movement starts to make out like he was the greatest philosopher of our time, and people condemning others for seeing him for what he really was, and some people being fired from their jobs for having an opinion on that person.

I don't think someone dying should clear their shitty values but I also don't understand why people can't distinguish shitty values from non-shitty ones. The fact that many people seem to have enjoyed Chuck Norris films does not mean they agreed with his shitty values, just that they liked the (entirely fictional) characters he portrayed. Like I said, I was not a fan. I saw fragments of some of his TV and films over the years but they never appealed to me. I found them boring. But I know other people got enjoyment from watching them. I don't see the problem with that.

Sure, there's no problem in that.
The problem I see here is someone opposing other people's view and trying to suppress them just because someone died.
Those are two distinct things.

While that is a fair statement, is immediately after their death the best time to revisit their sins?

Hmmm...
I was unaware of his controversial positions. Was Chuck Norris a Jimmy Savile? No. He wasn't Mother Teresa either. Perhaps it's a bit context-sensitive, which also means people's opinions will vary.

In situations like these, I tend to try and separate the art from the artist.
Roald Dahl was a fairly abhorrent human being, however, what he created was unlikely anything done by anyone before or since to my knowledge. I would hate what he created to be usurped by the person he was.
I was not a fan of his movies. I am not much into violent movies.May he rest peacefully.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
