Do you miss LAN parties?

It's been over a decade since we last posted on Geekzone, and the EchoLan team is cranking out another annual 40-hour LAN party.

Where: Navigation Homes Stadium in Pukekohe

When: 19-21 June 2026

EchoLan focuses on a traditional LAN experience. Our schedule prioritises LAN-focused games like Counter-Strike 2, Renegade X, Retrocycles, Starcraft II and many others.

Not everything is the same though, the old empty wooden halls of the past are gone, as are those slow 10/100 Mbit connections. We have grown up a bit and are making room for some more modern comforts. Those who were with us last year will remember the amazing 20 Gbps network backbone; nobody was waiting to jump into the next game. We're bringing it back again this year, with Quic once again providing our core router and Internet connectivity.

Whether you want a larger seat, 10 GbE connectivity, fully catered meals, or want to take it back to basics like it's 2009, when you slept under your desk just long enough to get back into it the next day, we have multiple ways for you to experience EchoLan.

Check out https://echolan.nz/e2026 for all the details. If you'd like to sign up to Quic's amazing fibre broadband Internet, use code ECHOLAN at checkout for 50% off your first month of Internet.

I hear all the cool kids will be there..

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. Sleeping bag on a air mattress in the corner of the hall, don’t think my back would agree with me nowadays.

I think my handle is in the CoD4 records somewhere a long long time ago…

Oh yeah I've got a motel, my back and I are decades beyond sleeping on floors.

Remember being staff at Equinox LAN many years ago....  was sick as a dog but still went, slept on floor in sleeping bag. Then they tried squeezing me into an Orc outfit to do some promotion stuff, but I couldn't even get my feet in the boots let alone the rest of the outfit :D

That's the way to do it! I'm still weighing up whether I splurge on some Bawls for the nostalgia

Man, sleeping under the desk brings back so many core memories. A 20 Gbps backbone sounds absolutely insane. Have an awesome event!
