One of my boarders has receieved notice from Empire Apartments stating that her apartments internet pricing has increased significantly (about $160 for 24gb).

For her, this has pushed an already expensive service to new heights and she is considering purchasing landline-DSL service from another company such as Telecom. However, she has been told that its either wireless internet service (ie. Woosh), their internet service, or the highway.

Has anyone had any success getting an 'independent' service (ie. not one provided by the Empire Apartment business) connected? Is there any legal requirement for them to?

Also - does anyone have any recommendations for wireless service? Its in the CBD so Woosh is an obvious candidate, but she is concerned at the performance.
