If by 'ghost' you mean 'some dust or something on the lens of the camera' then yes, you're right. o_O

how can a viewer tell if it is dust or not?

Well dust actually exists.. unlike the suggested alternative. So that's a pretty good start.

ROTFL.... looks like a water speck moving up the lens more than anything :)
If thats a ghost, then the photos I took a few years ago at a rally meet in Manukau show that there is at least 2000 ghosts just waiting to jump on photographers at the track exit :)
