I received my new Life Time lift pass today and was surprised to find it has an RFID chip in it.

The last time I ran into this was in Les Gets in France and was thinking how much it would be good to get this setup back home.
You just had to ski up to the gates at the ski lift and hold your arm up to the reader (my coat has a pocket for the card near the elbow) and it let you through if you have clearance for that lift.
It saves having to find your pass every time you use the chair lifts.

They also keep track of you discounts electronically so they save on printing costs and paper cost as well as the other benefits.

Hope it helps speed things up in the lifts and good to see they are embracing new technology.

I do wonder if they can see your pic, as the whole idea of it is to see you aren't borrowing your friends pass.

funny i used rfid passes in Aspen, CO 2004 and the gates were pretty slow-tech back then, hopefully improved five years later, great system when it works :)
