My 13 year old son came up with the name when he heard that scientists were worried that the bird flu and swine flu viruses may mutate and combine with the human version.

Anyone got any experiences of the current pandemic? Or has someone even got the deadly (not so...)affliction?

One of my team members sent me a text this morning complaining of the Wine Flu, not as contageous, but certainly just as compelling.

That's probably where my boy got the idea - they're always watching South Park on their iPods

I prefer the name "Hamthrax" myself!

One of our team was sent home with the sniffles after coming back from a course in Australia last week, but after testing it was a false alarm.

When there's a chance you may have been exposed, it astonishing to think how far it could have spread when you count everyone you and your family have been in contact with.

I live in a high school boarding house (supervisor). One of the other supervisors is in quarantine in the hostel, her daughter is one of the ones in chch that is under lockdown with it. She visited said daughter late last week, and has came back to blenheim in the weekend. God knows why they let her come back to marlborough and possibly spread it..

Looking forward to my week off Laughing

Yes I must say that ManBearPig, and for that matter, The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka still concern me more than Swine Flu at this stage.

From what I can see, it all seems to be just a load of media hype!

What about the possibility of y2k bug mutating into a more fatal strain?
