to be a New Zealander?

I suppose inspired by the 'Only in New Zealand' thread.. there has to be some meaning that differentiates our society from the Australia, the US and UK.

To cut down tall poppies for the worst possible reasons.
To ensure as much tax money as possible is wasted on things that do not benefit the needs of real New Zealanders.
To tolerate a political system that allows its elected members to defraud the country (most of New Zealands politicians are outright criminals).
To ensure that good, paying fathers are still treated as worthless scum.
To ensure that the middle ground of hardworking, taxpaying, law-abiding, non-rich kiwi employers and employees are financially raped by successive poor government policies and a tax system that largely prevents struggling families and businesses from achieving any real level of success if they choose to play by the rules, work hard, and be a 'good kiwi'.

Probably more, but for now, I am done.

+ 1 for the paying fathers thing.

I always feel I have to defend myself for having an estranged child.

While they are at it the could make the system a whole more equalitible (sp?)

If you as a payer get married, they assume your costs rise so your payments go down.

If the payee gets married, they still get paid through the nose...

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life. What are the chances of that like?
