From the Herald : http://www.nzherald.co.nz/motoring/news/article.cfm?c_id=9&objectid=10597818

Motorsport: Teen's racing career in hands of public
A teenager has his sights and heart set on a top motor racing school in England. And all he needs are online votes - lots of them - to get him there.

When he is not studying management at Waikato University, Martin Short is normally tearing around New Zealand and Australian racetracks in the Formula Ford series.

There is a Kiwi Jamie McNee who has a better record or wins, podiums etc. If I were going to vote it would be him, however if the person wants a chance at F1 the only real way to do it is to WIN everything starting at the local level. There are only 28 positions, you would think that they would go to the 28 best drivers in the world, if you are not even the best driver in NZ then you haven't much show really. This may be harsh but it is reality.

I ride horses, dressage to be presice, I do well enough in my level at a club level, infact very well for my experience, however I am probably not going to make the world championship of Olympics in my life time, nor would I consider going overseas until I was confident that I was the current best NZ had to offer.
