I can't believe it... Bought a cordless phone at Dick Smith, and when I got home found out there was no handset in the box.

Arghhhhh. Now I have to go there tomorrow again.

If it has been on a display, then they will remove the handset/base unit and leave the mains plugs in there. If it in a multiple handset phone, it can be hard to tell how heavy it is meant to be.

Maybe there was actually a cord in it and you've brought a phoneless cord...

Did you check it wasn't a bone induction phone?  You need to make a phone with your hand, stand on one leg, and answer calls like that.  The base station is merely to send calls to your "hand"set.

Modern cordless handsets weigh stuff-all. No surprise that Mauricio didn't notice. Well... that, and his old-age I suppose...

Who said "phoneless cord" ? That man deserves a beer...

Went there this morning and got a new box with everything in place. No fuss, no questions asked.

Have to go to DSE again. The batteries are corroded - I wouldn't put them in the phone...

Well considering he spent hours cursing a non operational cellphone the other week (He was pressing the wrong button to turn it on), he had a side-swipe or two coming.

I had this a few years ago when I brought some speakers, someone had returned them with only 1 in the box, I brought them and got them home only to find there was only 1, unfortuantely I brought them at the airport store and lived in Waiuku, luckily I was able to return them to Pukekohe and get a new set from there, I did have a sinking feeling as I thought they may have just thought I was dodgy and wanted a free speaker.
