Yes BOC sells it - my teenage sons managed to convince us that it was required for some "science projects" last year. This involved blowing up half our garden!!

Please be aware that you will have to have a container - we used a small chilly bin inside a larger chilly bin, and you will have to put a "hazardous substances" sticker on the container - the sticker can cost more than the dry ice.

You will probably have to be over 18 to buy it too.

Please be careful! There was an incident in Chch a few years ago involving a cleaner being injured by a dry ice bomb in the bus depot. My boys would be most upset if something untoward was to happen and sale of dry ice to the public was banned - not that I'm suggesting you would do anything bad of course.

If it's for a stage effect, a smoke machine running through some ice will achieve the same thing.

Stage smoke machines use glycerine based fluid.
