Would Google really do this? Or is this maybe really just a technological issue?

Nothing would surprise me. Guess the ball is in MS's court to make their browser meet the requirements.
Then, if Google still want to shut IE out, they will have to be more blatant about it.

Weird, but it would work in the new google chrome app they are developing as a plugin to IE?

Basically from what i've heard, it works like a framed browser app, takes over IE but opens up a new address bar.....sneaky, as far as microsoft are concerned it's a fully blown attack:

The majority of IE6 usage is by business users have have a locked down environment (for obvious reasons) at work.

Xero's blog post about Chrome Frame and group policy is right on the money imo

Haha I love google frame, just adding in a metascript at the top of the page to switch IE into Chrome mode = brilliant :)

I ran a few tests, using my IE with no add-ons and IE with Chrome Frame

Going to a page such as gmail or any google page that currently supports it, it loads twice as fast
Also did a few tests on my work call logging platform(that I built) and added the tags to on the dev server,
I think I'll be adding it to the top of everypage from now on :)

IT's also good that it voids most of the GP on my current IE(as in everything locked down, but can be unlocked under my dev username, not my staff one :( )
