I was largely disappointed when I was watching C4's coverage of the Music Awards when I noticed that it was delayed and then edited.

I think that it is appalling that such a event like this is edited. Could next year C4 please make the whole thing live and while they are mucking around between performances you can have a Ad break. Thanks

Apart from that C4 did a good job of covering it.

I was more appalled by the apparent drunkeness of the presenters to be honest.

Most advertising on TV is edited... why should the VNZMAs be any different... the whole thing was an embarrasment... Smashproof? Lame... Die Henwood? Lame...

Nice to see Pip do ok though... but it did smell of, well we didn't support her but she's done well overseas so now we'll get on board! (FOTCs anyone?)

It's time to ignore this crap!!

I haven't watched the C4 version yet, but I was at the live show last night.

Dai did a great job as the presenter again, and this year all of the live performances were knockout, including Smashproof. Poor Pip (Ladyhawke) did appear to be having some problems with here vocal at the start of the performance, but overall was excellent.

Yes some of the presenters were a little drunk, points a finger at Lucy, and some of the language was a little too choice for broadcast TV.

The Live show was about 2hr plus with no breaks suitable for ad insertion. Also it was late starting which could have caused C4 some headaches if it was live.

That's what I wondered as well, however, the whole expense of having the event live vs people actually watching it.  Would it make much of a difference, bar to a small minority (such as us) which wanted it live?

Some people like Shortland Street and Middle of the Road Radio I geuss... to each his own, but I think the industry (and the VNZMA's as part of that) are bad for creativity and music in general... i.e. the 360 contracts the majors are forcing on "artists" and the fact that if an "artist" doesn't sign up they get no air play, no promotion and no chance to "win" an award...

I don't like either of those, but I did like all of the music at last nights show.

So I guess you'd like to see all commercial radio in NZ shutdown and it handed over to the likes of George FM.. Oh wait George FM sold out.

I get what you did there... very clever.

Not at all! I think there is a need fro MoR and Classic Hits and even ZM... but it's pretty obvious that things like NZMAG and the "industry" are not good for all (Laurience Arabia, Odessa etc)... I would love to see competition to APRA and RIANZ (and this is currently underway)... don't what people who like to be told what they like to miss out at all (if you like Smashprrof you'll LOVE Souljahboy)... I just think the playing feild is not balanced and creativity suffers...

Commercial is not the only way (people didn't buy records in the 1500's you see and music still existed)

I've worked in commercial radio, and for the Bnet and for George... I have a pretty good handle on all spectrums of the way they operate and how the record lables negotiate number one hits with them (and now via the Warehouse too)...

There are (very few) good things coming out of the "industry" like Play It Strange, but it's simply not enough, so they don't get any of my money and I like to point out the problems in the ecosystem as that is one way to effect change!

That said if Polly and Grant got made redundant tomorrow I would probably smile for a minute or two and move on...

I dont think that it would of not been a big expense.
But they must of have had some sort of live feed going for Gin to have sworn on C4 on the red carpet.

as usually they went insanely over the advertised time (about 40 mins I think). Totally useless.

The live show itself ran late as per usual.

Interestingly Cambell Smith From RIANZ didn't get a very warm welcome when he got on stage.

Anyone else think he thought looked like a homeless hobo in a poorly fitting suit?

Watched a bit of it last night but got bored and embarrassed, so turned it off.

Was an awful attempt at bing the MTV VMA's and failed.

The fact that people like Dave Fale etc were so drunk they could barely function was pretty shambolic.

Thought the Vector lacked atmosphere too - needs to be in a smaller venue, like the St James or something.

As I have mentioned in other forums... the whole production was bollocks... I feel for Pip whi deserves better (and deserved better from the music "industry" well before the awards)...

This pretty much says it all
