Hi Peoples,

I'm gonna be moving house in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone in Auckland had recommendations of a good company to pay for moving my furniture, or if anyone had any good other ways to do this that dont require a truck drivers licence.

We used AA Carriers just a month or so ago...

They turned what was usually a day job for us, into just a few hours.

Moved our whole 3 bedroom house of furniture in just 2 1/2 hours...

Admittedly we had spent a while boxing up everything that could be boxed, but just not having to lift all the heavy things and hire a trailer and get a car to tow it with and a few mates to help was well worth it...

We only moved 2km up the road so travel time was minimal - I went to work for the day and my girlfriend just stood in the house and watched everything disappear around her! :)

I rang around a few companies and this seemed to be the cheapest and had good reccomendations too!

Awesome, thanks mate, I'll give them a call and see what they can do. I've only got a little bit of stuff and I'm moving from a flat into a 1 bedroom apartment so it's not like I have a lot of stuff, just 2 desks, a bed, and a couple of sets of draws. I could probably move everything else myself in my car if I had to.

DCR have trucks that do not require a truck licence and are still massive for moving. From memory they cost $85 a day +20C?? a KM. They also have vans that have no seats (furniture removal vans I think they call them) and they are $85 with no limit/charge on KM's.

I have used the truck and the van and the truck would be equivalent to 3-4 trips in a van!!

Thats definately something to keep in mind if the cost of paying someone else to move is too much. At the moment I'm wondering if it would be better from a convienience point of view to get someone else to do it. I'm not too keen on trying to get a bed and 2 desks up 11 stories to the new apartment haha.
