I am out at the annual Woodford Glen speedway fireworks extravaganza and am looking forward to it. Feel free to discuss any events you may be going to or fireworks in general.

No display in Whangarei this year :(
Okara park is a building site at the moment for the stadium upgrade and the alternative site got complaints from a horse stud nearby so the council canned it.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Ooo I am also quite looking forward to this. I went last year and they have such a good show! Then add to that the racing, brilliant.

But failing that it sounds like the family will be having a get together on the 7th, which will be a good excuse to bust out the fire poi again as one of my cousins has a fire staff anf fire devil sticks. good times :D

Think of the children/animals/property....

I <3 fireworks and hate knowing that by the time I have kids they'll be banned.  Public displays don't come close to setting off fireworks down on the farm with a bonfire, stuffed guy and tin foil wrapped potatoes cooking in the embers...  sigh.

I didn't get to go look... had to go to work to fix a fault.. but I believe you can only buy ground based fireworks now (incl sparklers)..

I live in a pretty trashy neighborhood so I get woken at about 1am every morning around the fireworks sale dates by the svelte urban professionals that live near me who clearly don't have a job to get up for.

People seem to horde them too, because they always seem to start roughly a week before sale date.

I miss being able to blow up my GI Joe figures with Tom Thumbs but wouldn't want them in the hands of Cleatus Sixpack and his offspring.
