Does anyone know who these a-holes are who send out spamfax.  Every morning there are 4 or 5 spam faxes on our main fax machine and now a new one that was set up as an  ordering system fax  number not advertized  has also started to receive spam from the same crowd.

TIA..

Regards,

Old3eyes

Just be grateful you are not getting fax bombs!
A year or two ago, a lot of Wellington (atleast) business got hundreds of pages sent to their fax machines.

Baron Fax Marketing was one such outfit who used to pester us a few years back. I think they just scan all available phone numbers until they get a response from a fax machine. Once it's in their database, they just keep sending faxes and it's very annoying.

I believe there is a list of phone numbers which you can be present on as a "Do Not Call" list. Members of the NZ Direct Marketing Association are bound not to call the numbers on that list, but I'm not sure if these fax marketing outfits are members of the association.

I would suggest doing a Google search for the things I have mentioned above. I am sure there will be some fairly easy way to get your number on the list, and hopefully that will solve the problem. On other occasions I have had to call the offending fax marketer and request to be taken off the list. Sometimes it took several attempts but we finally succeeded.

Change your fax to faxtoemail so it doesn't waste your toner.

A friends fax had an option to just recieve and discard fax's without a valid sending number on them, and there is some requirement that it is set correctly for most telco's in their T&C. Telecoms nuicense call people will do nothign about it when I last tried which sucks.

We block all anonymous numbers - that kills the fax spam and telemarketers!

Unfortunately it just means you are not bothered by them. It would be nice if it would kill them since they are generally deplored scum of the earth...
