I was out on Thursday to a similar sale at Bond & Bond.  Mate bought a nice camera, much cheaper than at full RRP.

Depends on the product. Thats pretty similar to staff prices at a lot of those places. You find things like computers/laptops and ipods are normally cheaper than cost + 1-% but its definately a good time to buy cables etc

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it's a bit odd... all these 'invites to friends and family' that are available to be sent to anyone and everyone. It started with HN inviting Ambulance, Fire and Council staff a few years ago as a 'thank you', now it's open slather to the general public. These prices aren't any better than you could get by walking in the door an negotiating a deal any day of the week...

Advertising by any other name...

Who said its just for anyone?
The ones I got were because of who I work for, and clearly stated that, and the ID that I would need to provide.

All the ones I've seen said bring your friends and family, and some of them actively encouraged the forwarding of the email invites... In fairness, I think it started out as a semi-exclusive invite, but the ones I have seen recently were definitely more in the way of general advertising than a offer to a 'select few'.

Mind you - maybe I'm just not part of the 'select few' and so don't see the exclusive ones ;-)

In any case - I don't believe the deals are as good as they are pitched to be...

Haha i love the briscoes adverts! every weekend it's like a 50% off everything sale...then you go in and everything cost about the same as LV Martins or Harveys

My colleague went to the Family and Friends Noel Leeming sale and tried to get a Ps3, but they told him they only make about $15 on the sale of every PS3.  Which I think is about right, especially with the expensive parts in the PS3
