Hi Peoples,

Was just having a talk with a friend of mine about the whole Geek Sheik fad going on at the moment (thanks to shows like Big Bang Theory) and was wondering if people think its a good thing or a bad thing.

On one hand, is it causing geeks to become more socially acceptable? Or do you think that it's forcing people with intelligence to be stereotyped and expected to act in a certain way?

I'm proud to be a geek, and have been for many many years, but all of a sudden people that know me as a geek seem to know a lot more about how geeks think than what they used to.

Yes, that is amazing. Reminds me of that website www.kissthisguy.com with the misheard lyrics.

I'm still gonna go for chic though. Contrast and compare:

Its been around for ages. Look at the cover albums of weezer from the 90s - they were geek chic, big glasses, vests, singing songs about playing D&D etc.

In terms of what I think about it? Its a cool style. Does it relate to acutal geeks? No. Acutal geeks are actual people. They dress like that, or in a suit, or in track pants (like the guy next to me). Anyone who thinks sterotypes are acutally true.. well...

As long as your geekiness doesn't go to far.
