I require a computer for movies, music, photos, business and a little bit of gaming. (comes with Office 2007)

Personally i gotta pc built for me off Trademe was a quad core 2.33 with a small 250 gig hd and 2gig ram. if memory serves it was $840 or close to it since then have added extra hd and taken the ram upto 4 gig and also gotta a average video card. I would recommend getting one built this way instead off paying for a brand name. :-)

This Dell model is more expensive but it includes a lot more stuff and comes with 23 inch LCD monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse and Office 07 so i think it's actually a better deal. Not to mention, it's got more RAM and a bigger hard drive and includes speakers and TV tuner - plus having a warrenty helps.

He is saying consider looking at Trademe, not to buy his one but one with similar specs...

It seems like reasonable value, Dell screens are fine but personally prefer a good brand LCD like samsung. I cant say there is anything wrong with that combo, but I would certainly look at trademe. Consider getting an AMD system you will get bigger bang for your buck, and cooling issues are not what they used to be.

Exactly the stats for the PC look pretty good. It's all up to personal choice though. What you like won't be the same as someone else (just like your budget). I was meaning that look around go on other sites where you can use wizards and build the same pc if those are the exact parts you require you should get it cheaper and also they will offer a warranty too.

Most people on Trademe who custom build or sell PC's are stores anyway and/or are flexible to suit your needs for me at the time my budget was sub $1000 I slapped in my own graphics card and extra ram and left over HDD from the PC i upgraded from (1.8 celeron). Initially the PC was a lot more powerful i just downgraded the HDD, Dropped the Video Card and halved the Ram to get it into my price range the only thing i upgraded was the case to one i really liked.

Good Luck either depending on what your upgrading from (if like me) anything is gonna be a decent improvement. My current system spec are Quad core 2.33, 4 gig Ram, 1775 gig Hdd and a 4670 1 gig gfx card and as of yesterday bluetooth too (gotta love $1 reserve auctions)

i'd say pay $50 more and get the next one up - the studio xps with core i7 and and way way way more powerful graphics card, faster ram ... no monitor that'll cost $330 on pricespy for viewsonic 24" full HD.

just my 2c.

Will have a further look around... i keep wanting to wait just another month as everything seems to get better/cheaper all the time.

If I was you I'd also get quotes from Playtech and Computer Lounge for system that meets your requirements and fits within your budget (which is presumably <$2000).

I agree, Ascent is another one to try too. Computer Lounge has a forum where you can see other PCs which have been spec'd up for people, you could post on there what sort of specs you're after (and maybe what you're planning on doing with it) and they'll give you a recommendation on parts and a quote.
