Hi guys,

I purchased a new computer last weekend and was meant to get 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM.

I have downloaded Piriform Speccy to double check my computer stats and it says i have 4GB of DDR3 RAM but only at 523.5MHz.

Is this right? Does it mean i've been given the wrong type of RAM? If they have, i will take it back and get them to put in the correct RAM but want to make sure first.

I had to take the computer back earlier in the week because they forgot to put in my 7 in 1 card reader.

Download CPU-Z and go to the SPD tab. Check out what it says there.

EDIT: On my receipt, it says i should have - "Ramos 2G DDR3 1333Mhz Ram" x 2

Hi, It looks like they have provided you with the ram that you purchased, as its DDR (Double Data Rate) you double the mhz you see,

You can see the ram you ordered/received is DDR3-1333 Mhz (in cpu-z its shown as 667 MHz) double that to get you're 1333 MHz. this is normal.

Problem you have: They havn't set the ram speed correctly in the bios, no biggy, easy fix. Where abouts are you.

Also make sure your motherboard supports 1333Mhz ram!

I'm in Hillcrest on the North Shore.

How would i go about changing this setting in the BIOS?

When i first purchased the system, it only showed up as having 2GB of ram installed.... i took it back and the issue was that they put the second 2gb RAM in the wrong slot, so it wasn't showing up for some reason...

no worries, where did you buy this computer from if I may ask? For them to have the ram in the wrong slot, and not even set the ram mhz correctly... people need to be warned.

I purchased this PC from Advanced Computers; i actually took it back before you replied and they just said it was nothing to worry about... they either don't know what they are talking about or can't be bothered i guess.

Resolved: Talked Simon through into the bios, changed ram frequency to correct 1333 MHz, saved and reboot, all ok :) Glad I could help.
