Last night at the movies there was an issue with the projecter and then the sound but I noticed that the projectionist snapped the movie back to the start pretty quickley so I was wondering what they use these days? It cant have been reel...

What about blu-ray? Would that be to the same standard?

What about blu-ray? Would that be to the same standard?

The Digital Cinema Initiative (The movie cabal standard) specifies 2K or 4K as the minimum for feature shows, 2K is slightly above Blue Ray.

If the cinema is truely digital then I would imaging that the data is moved around on portable HDDs But there are not that many full digital theatres in NZ, most are still on reel.

I exited a theatre once and went past the neew Digital Projector and Storage unit. The Storage seems to be a nice disk array of sorts which was connected to more than one projector.
