I think this is a little silly to be honest.

Traders should at least look at what they are putting up to see if there is any issue with pricing. Putting a 5000 dollar pricetag isn't going to make anyone buy it. Bit of a waste of time if you ask me.

What might have happened is the seller sold the speakers elsewhere, ie not on trademe, which you aren't supposed to do.
So rather than withdraw the auction they just put a silly price on it which noone will buy and let the auction expire as normal.

Yeah sounds like they were sold elsewhere as above. People should be made to withdraw their auctions rather than just up the price like that

Sometimes you have to pay a fee to withdraw an auction - putting the price up means the auction fails and there's no fee.

Yeah, they should really take their withdrawal fees down a bit. Having auctions where people bump the price up just muddies up the search results. Oh well, not hard to have things taken down :) was removed within a minute of complaining

I thought people just like trying to get attention by putting their prices really high for some reason in the hopes someone rich in the pocket and not in sense will buy it.

Like those eggs that buy bread that looks like Jesus or a pair that looks like a Kiwi.

Seems wrong that trademe can withdraw the auction just because of the high price??
Surely you can put whatever price you like on your own auctions and if it doesn't sell it's your loss no one elses.
Where does it end? Can I complain if a price is too low?
