The job market for IT support, testing, dev work in Wellington is very tough at the moment, even though we keep hearing that we're out of the recession, new opportunities are being created etc, Wellington doesn't really reflect that because of the number of redundancies in those fields that came from Govt depts outsourcing. I saw another article just last week about Corrections outsourcing their dev and support, that's ~50 more skilled people with recent work experience now competing for work in Wellington (some of them will get picked up by whoever get the local contracts but not all).
