Hi

Is there a specific web hosting forum for NZ hosts?

I know there is webhostingtalk.com.au for aussie hosts and the same in a .com for US but is there a specific one for NZ hosts?

Everything in Chinese (or Korean?) and spam posts for "shanghai escort girls shanghai massage".

I have never seen something local. The best is still www.webmasterworld.com

Not as per say, their use to be a NZ host forum ( I forget what the name of it was, but I will try & look for it and post the name latter if I can find it), but it lasted about two ? three years, before it went offline.

Now days most people ask about web hosts on forum like here on Geek Zone / PressF1 http://www.pressf1.co.nz, GP forum http://www.gpforums.co.nz / webmasterforum.co.nz.

Their use to be webhostingtalk.co.nz for NZ hosts but it went offline and then some one from an aussie host tried to restart it, but it never took off and it went offline and someone else now has the domain name.

So if I was looking for a good deal on webhosting I would look at one of those sites?

The thing is, who are those types of forum sites actually for. You get those people advertising on them, who are startups, undercutting existing providers, and offering unsustainable services that run a bit like a ponzi scheme, where they rely on a constant influx of customers. Then when they get older, and they get less and less customers signing up, and they maybe forced to close up shop, forcing those customers to find another provider. I am sure many of them are setup solely to then offsell their customer database to a more established provider. When I am looking for a host, I go by word of mouth and a company that has been around for a long time, and provides good support. I have never looked indepth at those hosting forums, however I think they are more for people who are setting up themselves as a webhost, which is not really a business you want to be in these days with the huge amount of competition and small margins.

Yes and no, webhostingtalk.com.au does cover NZ hosting providers quite commonly.

Second best place would be right here, we really are missing a web hosting discussion forum.
