Hello,

I'm new to Geekzone... and this is my first post :)

Does anyone know where I could find a whole load of used disposable cameras, specifically, the ones with a built in flash? I want to rip the flash units out for a project I'm working on.

I guess they're not as popular nowadays but presumably there must be a whole lot somewhere that are likely to end up in landfill!

Talk to your local photo shop and see what they do with them

First of Welcome to Geekzone!

+1 on the Idea of talking to your local camera shop, tho disposable cameras are quickly becoming a thing of the past so you might be lucky to find some.

They make pretty good tazers if you take the bulb out..

I'd check with Kodak and Fuji (who off the top of my head seem to make the most disposable cameras round here) as well. I know Wellington Photographic here in town used to have a recycling scheme for the shells, maybe have a word with them as well?

Thanks for the advice - I phoned around and have found a photography shop who tell me they have a stack of them which I can collect this afternoon :)

jamman2110 - the project involves re-using the flash units to make a slave flash unit (a handful of additonal components and a photoresistor are used to complete it).

Yes, there are some interesting things you can do with that flash if you use it for a purpose it wasn't designed for... tazers being one of those things!

If I get it all working, I'll post some details in case anyone finds this sort of thing interesting...
