A story that I am aurprised Mauricio hasn't picked up on yet and posted:

BT are planning on offering free broadband to every home phone customer when they launch their next generation network in 2009. There are of articles discussing this if you go a google news search on the topic.

It makes so much sence I am surprised Telecom haven't yet mentioned such a thing - their would be no need for ULL if people have no need to be with a different provider since reastically companies (with the possible exception of TCL) only want ULL to provide broadband services therefore there wouldn't be any competition! :-)

I wonder what the commerce commission would think of such a concept here in NZ if Telecom did suggest it? Can offering something for free be anti-competitive?

You can just imagine the reaction of TCL and others to that cant you? Might put a number ISP out of business however. I think it would be a great idea, free broadband with every phone account sold, no different to me going to Dominos pizza and getting a free garlic bread when i buy two pizzas is it?

I missed this... The thing is that we post here mostly things that come from press contacts or from press releases. The problem is with copyright - and we don't want to get into a "you copied, I did not".

So, by all means, if you know of some news, please tip us and we will post.
