Several months ago I purchased a Hewlett Packard HP inkjet along with some cartridges, and qualified for their 'Cash-cade' promo. The deal with this is that once you sent them the required barcodes and application form, they would send you a $50 prezzie card. However int eh terms I noticed that it said that it may take them 75 days to process the application and send it to you. It is now about 75 days since I sent them what they required, and I still haven't received anything. Has anyone else applied for this, and had any trouble? 75 days seems like a heck of a long time, and many people would forget all about it. Other similar promos I have applied for, I got the goods within a week, even though they have also had similar processing times in their terms.

75 working days... only 5 per week, makes the wait a lot longer. I didn't enter that one, but previous others that took well over the 75 day timeframe.

So that is almost 4 months, I haven't been waiting quite that long. My fear is that I won't receive it, and then when I contact them about it, they will tell me they never recieved the stuff I sent them. I may go back to the retailer to sort it out, as it was them who sold me the special deal.

I had the misfortune of buying an HP product that had a cashback attached to it. Took almost 9 months of constant hounding to get it in the end.

And as for the Prezzie cards. Well all I can say is take a look at this interesting talk by Seth Godin - http://vimeo.com/4246943 it explains it all.

My thread about one previous offer I entered.

I cannot remember precisely when mine did arrive, but I would have posted fact of its arrival on here for others to know - but as you see I didn't - so that means it was at least over 30 more days (as the discussion timed out and was locked after 30 days of no posts).

My previous HP cashback gave me login details to online to see where in the process we were - this was for a laptop.  It took 3 months + to arrive.

I don't have any login details to allow me to login to check. However I have just checked my archived emails, and see that I did get an email that said it has been processed, and I would get it by the 27th October. However this is far longer than the advertised 75 days, and that is 75  regular days, not business days. To me, I consider that an unreasonably long time to wait, as that will be a 3-4 month wait. The last time I redeemed something was from Brother, and that was processed and received within a week.

For another product ages ago, I ended up calling the helpline, waiting for hours, and they had lost the bar code I'd sent in. I fortunately still had the receipt, so could apply again.

I entered the cashback on 2/12/2008, got email about being processed on 20/2/2009. In this they said:

Thank you for participating in Compaq Massive Cash Back. HP is happy to inform you that your reward has been processed and should be received by 06/05/09. Please see below for fulfillment details.

I don't recall when I saw the money in the bank, but I eventually got my $100.

Cashbacks are a horrible scam. I'm sure they must rely on people getting frustrated and giving up. Make sure you're a dick about it, and complain about the hassle. Tell them it puts you off buying HP again. It's hard, because it's not the guys on the service line's fault, so be polite, but these companies need to know it's a bad look.

I will never buy HP again after my experience, and I still remember it after nearly two years! Call me obsessive, but that really soured my previously neutral view about HP.

I think HP subcontracts it out to another company. Was hoping maybe someone from HP hung around on the forums.

I have been pretty happy with HP over the years, but 75 days to process a simple rebate, and then not furfilling their end of the deal is not on for any professional company.

For our HP Cashback from mid-2010 it took around 3 months to get our $50 Prezzy Card.

It was exactly the same offer under the name "Printing Pays with HP" rather than "HP Cashcade".

Ink-jet printing sure "pays" off... Undecided

Just to post an update. I still haven't received my prezzy card. I have emailed them and no reply. I have phoned their 0800 number, but it is a fully automated system, and gives you no option to speak to anyone. I have logged into their system, and it says

Status: Approved
Comments: All ok

I think the whole thing is terrible, for a company like HP, that you can't communciate with anyone about it either. It shouldn't take over 75 days for them to process. The terms do say that it may take up to 75 days (not business days), so they are way over that.

I will think twice before buying another HP product.
