What can I expect if I took up a team member job at KFC? Their job offers say I could choose between counter sales and kitchen work. What is the kitchen work like?

Lots of prep work, mixing the gravy, hydrating the potato, cooking the chicken, slicing the tomatoes, all the standard stuff really. A friend who worked in the KFC kitchen said other than initial prep work and the occasional late night rush the work was easy, plus he got to keep the left overs. Counter work is more full on and you've gotta deal with customers.

Disclaimer: Haven't worked in fast food, have several friends that have, none recommend it.

I worked for GP many many moons ago and you always got moved between all the different areas.... front counter was the worst.

Surprised KFC dosent follow similar sort of idea.

Working out back may seem easy, but youre the one getting screamed at by all the other staff when you run out of cooked product.....

Haha, that brings back memories of my Burger King days, definitely recommend staying away from fast food!
Best high school job I had was at the movies, free movies for me and a mate.  Made for many cheap date nights :)

Hydrating the potato...
Surely there's better jobs out there that don't involve watering down the spuds? Wink

Or spitting on your onion rings... oh, wrong place.

I've had several friends who work there and commented its a very noisy work environment. However that was before they built the new store - so not sure if that was addressed in the change.

I once worked at McDonalds for 1 day, it was not pleasant. I would not recommend it.

But if it was since you didn't have a job, and wanted money it's possibly a good thing to get into anything at the moment.

That happens when you put your arms in the deep fryer. :)

Only thing I had problems with working at GP, was the cleaning stuff they supplied for wiping tables etc down with - found I was allergic to the raw powder which was how they shipped it to us. Nice rash all over the arms.......

Yeah I often wonder how bad for worker's respiratory health it must be to work at Pizza Hut where the air is often hazy/smoky from smoke coming out the chip frier (sometimes out oven when they do garlic bite crust as well). When standing outside with door open smoke/vapour can be seen coming out clearly.
