Tried opening it with a different app than MS Word? Google docs, Open office, Hotmail, etc, etc?

Nope, both google docs and office live wont open it.

Nope, both google docs and office live wont open it.

Hmmm doesn't sound promising. Did you try using this text converter thingy that the error message suggests?

Maybe try renaming it? Or maybe email it to a friend and see if they can open it.

Ok I used the recover thing and it worked. I got the text back but theres some pictures in there which couldnt be recovered. Thanks heaps guys for your help :)

I tried opening it too in two versions of Word and a third-party viewer and none were able to open it. The Unix file command returned "CDF V2 Document, corrupt: Can't read SSAT". I don't think you'll be able to recover the pictures.
