have you called them to ask what's up? Pain being a 0900 since many people cant call them, but they usualy sort it out.

They have heaps of cookies etc which are probably how they have matched you up as having several accounts in the same name.

Suggestion, if you are going to have several, as in one for each LLC, then tell them ahead so they note them on it.

within 3 years of trade me starting i started a tm account (john.c) within a year that account was disabled  trademe stated i had more than 1 account (which i did not, i told tm this and they did nothing about it. ) within 6 months i started another account when i moved to christchurch because i felt tm diabled my first account unfairly as i only had 1 account, in this time i have had 3 accounts in my name that i know of i have throughly enjoyed useing tm. i feel as though because of trademe unfair treatment in the first place that it has been ok to use more accounts i have emailed tm with what i consider to be a reasonable letter explaining this with the facts as i see then (as per below), now im faced with starting up yet another tm account, tm routings allow other members to run 2 and in some cases 3 accounts that i know of, i just want 1 account that they will not bully has anyone got any ideas that are legal within trade me laws that seem to be different for everybody.

hi im john conway over the years since tm has been going i have had a
number of accounts my latest being deadtimeyet.
i enjoy tm my first account was john.c in invercargill.
after my wife logged in on that account without my approval she managed
to get that account canned.
after moved to christchurch i started on tm again with endgame.
when that was terminated for having multiple accounts witch i did not i
had a string of accounts in that time i can only recall having around
ten bad feed backs over these accounts.
in my time i even did a stint time working for night-dragon doing his
repairs but not online listings and i remember well what trade me are
capable of.
my point at this time is that doesn't it make more since having me as a
productive member of the tm community that has paid tm thousands in fees
in the past and hopefully more in the future.
im more than happy to beg borrow or just set up another account but
isn't it better that i be allowed to set up properly and that way we all
save a lot of chasing around.
im a good seller and not a bad buyer and would really like to come in
from the cold.
regards john

This is what they sent me

I have several people who use trademe using my computer, and they all have their own acccount, so would be coming from the same IP and using the same cookies in their web browser. I haven't yet been contacted by them about having mulitple accounts, so they must have some clever software behind the scenes.

Well clearly they think you are the same person. Have you forwarded any trademe emails to your friend in the past? They seem to have unique codes on at least one of the images in the emails which may be used to link accounts together.

nope, not that simple, have done that many times with friends accounts on my PC, and mine at friends places. Has to me more to it then you are saying.

You had your friend bid up your listings or anything stupid?

i have never chased anyone up or vice versa on tm .
I have been as honest with tm as humanly possable in the mean time iv just aquired another account and should be up and running with new systems on an established account.
my problem is i really would prefer to be honest with them.

I expect the trigger for this kind of action is bidding (or asking a question) on an auction being run by an account with the same IP or posting in the same message  board thread as your "friend" did from the same IP.  In the first case it would look to trademe like you were shill bidding or pumping the auction, and in the second it could look like you were sock puppeting.

All these actions would likely be a red flag to TradeMe, not simply having multiple accounts from the same IP, because that goes for probably 1/2 the households in NZ.

I dont clear cache etc when using all the accounts on the laptop (since one firefox profile is too much for it most of the time) and have had no issues.

Hell, they all have the same first and last name and address, just the company name differs on them.

Yes, but they do allow  different people living at the same residence to have their own trademe account. You could have 6 flatmates all sharing the same computer, each with their own trademe account. They would have systems to detect that this is valid.

Easiest way is to create an email forwarding account and use a different name.

Go to http://grad.com/ and create an account on TM using the email address under the name 'Randy Simons", then change it back to your own or something similar.

Trademe apparently check on MAC addresses, I am not sure if this is true, but if you have a PC just pop in a new network card and that's solved too.

How could TradeMe harvest MAC address information? I'm fairly sure that is impossible but all the issues it would cause with shared accounts (different PCs but same router...)
