I'm visiting my mum and she thinks it looks like a spruce?

Kinda looks a bit like a NZ Kauri (Agathis australis) to me. Close up of the leaves would make it easier I think... :)

i dont believe it was a spruce and its definately not an NZ kauri.  for some reason i though it was an oriental pine variety, but perhaps the pine was the tree i was looking at before choosing this specific one....

What do you expect - this is a geek forum.

The only trees we are likely to know about are TreeViews.  Not to mention, leaves grow on XML around here!!!

Well i'm a little disappointed I thought there would be a lot more sarcasm here and I only looked in case the tree was needing a name not a species / variation waaa.

I woulda suggested Steve or Bob or something like that. Either that or give it a girls name but i just think that would be sappy.

I expected someone to suggest it was the Larch.

Not to sound stupid (although a lot of people would say this is a skill for me) but i'm not sure what you mean by Tree of Geeks maybe i'm just not geeky enough sigh........hehe.

It was my attempt at a tree pun. Maybe i should leaf that to more skilled people.

Don't tie yourself up in knots over it, there is no harm in branching out into the world of puns...

Mike the problem with that is that as this was about the type of tree not some funny thing it would appear that we are just barking up the wrong path and have been rooted out in this line of thinking.
