I found out a few days after placing a $500 order (a Global knife set for a wedding gift) with them that "The Deal" went into receivership earlier this month, and up until yesterday were still taking orders. The website seems to have been shut down today. I can't find any contact details for the receivers who are listed as "Lance Gilbertson, from Bill Ritchie, Cambridge" - The companies office website isn't returning any obvious results for any of these entities.

I placed the order 2 days _after_ they went into receivership so supposedly they (the receivers) have a legal obligation to either supply the products or refund my money, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm going to try VISA to reverse the charges, but again, not holding my breath.

If anyone else has any outstanding orders with them, you may well be out of luck.

If anyone has any contact details for the receivers, could you please let me know, as I'm unable to find anything.

EDIT: I've found a contact number for The Deal in case anyone needs it, 09 524 4055

You shouldn't have a problem with Visa.

Supposedly the receiver, Lance Gilbertson, can be contacted at hubstareceiver@hubsta.co.nz, although I get a "no such user" response.

The email addresses admin@thedeal.co.nz and info@thedeal.co.nz are both still being monitored.

Company is Hubsta. Receivers details are on the companies office website.  Click on Receivership Details...has address and phone number listed

Best bet is to deal with Visa as you have some protection there

Website seems to be up and operating for me? I think we'll see more of these deal websites going under soon enough. http://www.loveonedaysales.co.nz lists heaps of these sites that all seem to sell the same thing. Good luck with the refund!

Yeah +1 ...

They have stopped daily deals tho

And their Trademe account has no listings :S

Not looking too good, Visa/Mastercard apart from DebitPlus are pretty easy to charge back though :) so most people won't have an issue

You're right, they do and they will either supply or refund, it's just that receivers are often very slow moving and it may take a while.

Your biggest problem is that you may not have the present or refund before the wedding.  Hounding the receiver should get you a quicker result, if you make a big enough nuisance of yourself they will sort it out sooner.

You are definitely best to to a credit card charge back, as you are protected. If you wait for the receivers, you may not get anything, as the time you are able to make a chargeback may lapse, and there may not be any cash to pay unsecured creditors like you, after the IRD are paid. It is actually a Steve Tindell venture, the guy who setup thewarehouse, as you can see here http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/4324130/Receivers-appointed-to-Tindall-venture

You are not an unsecured creditor if you pay *after* the business is placed in receivership.  I do agree though, get on to the bank about a chargeback.

That says he is a shareholder.  There is a big difference between him being a shareholder and it being his venture.

Website is now "down for maintenance" for me.
