Hello folks!

I have an Android-based IDEOS U8150-D to giveaway, courtesy of 2degrees.

The Android-based IDEOS U8150-D is a 3G 900/2100 MHz handset, perfect for 2degrees mobile or Vodafone New Zealand. I am giving it away on the understanding you know it's not a Telecom XT handset. This means please do not post "will it work on... " here because the entry will be removed.

The competition runs from now until the 3rd December 12pm, when I will lock this thread and draw a winner. You have two ways to enter:

1. You can reply once to this thread with some more information about what you have now. Make it entertaining. Just a "Me too!" is not enough. A photo entry will add a bonus point!

2. Use the Retweet button to send a tweet about this competition. You can enter once a day only and each tweet until the closing of the competition is an extra chance to win. Only tweets sent from the Retweet button are valid entries.

Somethings you must know: users who have been previously banned are not entitled to enter this competition. No purchase is necessary and it's only valid for New Zealand residents and will only be delivered to New Zealand addresses. This Android-based IDEOS U8150-D is brand in the box. Retweet button entries are only valid if you have a Geekzone account created before the end of this competition.

Unfortunately my Nokia E63 drowned in a swimming pool a few weeks ago. It came back to life and has no backlight or any light for that matter. So I am using an old Sony Erricson something

At the moment I have a aging HTC Magic, it decides when it wants to wake me up in the morning (Alarm force closes for some odd reason) would be awesome to move to a actual Android 2.2 device :)

I currently have a Sony Ericcson v640i, which I inherited from my daughter when she recently upgraded her phone. My wife has an iPhone 4, and I've been suffering a major case of Phone Envy ever since that baby landed on our doorstep. The IDEOS would go a long way towards numbing the pain I feel every day when I glance over and see her playing Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja, as I shake my head and wonder why the biggest tech geek in the family has the lowest tech phone.

I just dropped my iPhone 3Gs into the toilet whilst I was climbing over the toilet cubical because some little brat decided to lock the other cubical at work. So I now have to rely on a $59 Nokia that has no 3G.

Wouldnt mind one of these for my oldest daughter. Shes a fussy phone owner and wants x and y and z and must do this, and that etc.
Ideally we need a few more dual sim, dual standby phones around these days - would love one in android :)

I currently have a (new) Vodafone (Alcatel) 543. Huge disappointment! Hard to believe in this day in age they still make hopeless slow phones like that... I have not had a phone that slow for texting since owning a 2004 (?) Kyocera slider.

So consequently, I need a new stylish replacement phone, and this is it for sure.

I would love to get an Android phone for my personal use - as Android is the new and upcoming OS for phones.

After the untimely death of my E63, I'm back to my 6 year old nokia 1100:

https://cdn.geekzone.co.nz/imagessubs/bloge7b0c065bccfc369689d2066df471bd3.jpg

Whilst it can't do a great deal except for txt and phone, it is the AK-47 of mobile phones - rugged and widely used in places like Afghanistan and Somalia - so I feel a strange kinship with the downtrodden of this world.

Also - if there is ever a nuclear war - this will be the only phone still functioning. Not that there will be networks to make calls, mind you, but the flashlight will still work.
